Image maps can be handy in a variety of e-commerce situations, such as when your product images are group shots out of a print catalog, and slicing them apart into separate images is time consuming or just doesn't work aesthetically.They also present a special challenge for a shopping cart. Many carts don't support them. CatalogIntegrator does support client side image maps, but they are a special case, because GoLive does not, at this time, support dragging and dropping BuyObject code into the image map hot spots. But you can drag and drop BuyObjects into the Source view and into the Inspector. |

The image to the right contains an actual image map, not just a screen shot of one, so that you can view the actual code. A) Make the Hot Spot with the GoLive Image Map Tools. A2) Select the Hot Spot. A3) Drag the Image Map Javascript Code BuyObject into the URL window of the Inspector, as in Fig 14 below. A4) Type in the productname (no spaces) in place of the word "productname" in the javascript. See Fig. 15. A5) Type in the product name in the Title field. See Fig 15. |
